Outside the Law is one of the most controversial films because it's self conscious epic theme made this movie look like inaccurate and away from the subject matter. This historical melodrama about Algerian freedom struggle is a superb mixture of politics and family turmoil. This film has faced many different accounts by politicians, the film's plot looses that how the law changed and how things were manipulated.

But this flick is one among those films which has an unmanipulative plot. The film focuses on the time when Algeria was ruled by France during the WWII but the Algerian people wanted independence and after the Germany ordered their surrender the liberation march suddenly explodes into a massacre, killing hundreds of Europeans and thousands of Algerians.

Outside the Law focuses on the story of three brothers Said (Jamel Debbouze), Messaoud (Roschdy Zem) and Abdelkader (Sami Bouajila) and their struggle as long as they attempt to fight. The movie's feel is very emotional and powerful, certain parts of the story however lacks accuracy but were executed with such perfection that whatever was going on in the film seemed fantastic. Thanks to Director/Writer Rachid Bouchareb who came out with such an unique and fascinating story.

Each of the three brothers were offered equal scope in the movie because all of them had unique and impressive personalities. Overall, Outside the law is an engrossing and an inspiring film with a very powerful and personal way of cinematic execution.

Moviaso's Rating : 3/5
